So, assuming again this is the outcome of the phone call, can anyone recommend a solicitor (paid or free) that will deal with this for me? Does anybody have any advice of a course of action to take come monday morning?ġ. My questions is, assuming this is the problem (which I will find out on monday morning when their offices open), I'm going to tell them I HAVE sent them my section 172 and they're likely going to tell me to go and **** myself and treat me like a criminal. I googled to see if anybody else has had a similar thing but I came across a helpful website that has lead me to believe they haven't received my section 172 in the post as the points and fine match the criteria for such a crime. The letters are incredibly vague and I had to read them a few times to find it was related to my offence in February.
Now, because so much time had gone by, when I opened these letters this morning I couldn't even make out what I had supposedly done wrong. The Magistrates letter is informing me of 6 penalty points that are being endorsed on my driving license from the offence back in February and a fine of £569 and the letter from the DVLA letter informing me of a court hearing on 21st September (already been and gone before the letter was written up). This morning Saturday 24th September 2016, I receive two official looking letters, one from the Lancashire Magistrates Court and one from the DVLA. I discarded the remaining paperwork and was happy to see the back of the whole thing. I paid my fine on the gov website as explained on said sheet (I have the receipt for proof) and I posted my section 172 at my local post office with a first class stamp branding the Olympics emblem on it (I don't send letters often so I specifically remember everything about posting this letter).
There was no offer of a speed awareness course like I was expecting, simply a page describing my offence and a section 172 to confirm it was me driving and some other personal information and a sheet of information on how to pay.
I was sent a NIP with a £100 fine and a notice of 3 penalty points. I was caught doing 51 in a 40 in February 2016.
